The Sweetness Hour

Bright stars sparkle in the azure desert sky
As we hurtle through our part of the Milky Way;
Autumn leaves on every tree, turn but do not fall,
In the sweetness hour at the end of every day.

In that hour snowflakes fall in winters’ silence
Early tulips announce the coming spring,
Fireflies decorate the sultry summer evening,
All this and more the sweetness hour brings.

As it’s been sung, ‘you are my child, you are my mother,’
And it’s forever in your arms I want to stay;
Welcomed, held, and holding,
In the sweetness hour at the end of every day.
